One week prior to your appointment stop taking any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) like Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, etc. as well as herbal supplements like ginko biloba, Vitamin E, fish oil, Omega 3, ginseng, St. Johns Wart. These may increase the risk of bruising.Be sure your skin is clean and dry. You may use moisturizer, but not makeup/foundation. Do not drink alcohol prior to your appointment.
Neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Daxxify) work to smooth wrinkles and fine lines by relaxing the muscles beneath them. There are two kinds of wrinkles: dynamic & static. Dynamic wrinkles are the lines you see only when you make facial movements such as smiling or frowning. Static wrinkles are deep set and are there even when the face is relaxed. Both dynamic and static wrinkles can be treated with neuromodulators. However, static wrinkles generally will take more time to relax (ie repeated treatments), and over time have the potential to smooth out completely. The injections may also be used as a preventive measure, to stop static wrinkles from forming. You can expect each treatment to last about 3-5 months.
